The present document is applicable to a pair of QKD modules operating a prepare and measure QKD protocol that can form a complete QKD system when connected by an appropriate point-to-point QKD link.
The present document specifies a Protection Profile (PP) for the security evaluation of pairs of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) modules under the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CC:2022 Revision 1).
ETSIGSQKD016 V2.1.1 (2024-01) - Quantum Key Distribution (QKD); Common Criteria Protection Profile - Pair of Prepare and Measure Quantum Key Distribution Modules
A few months on and we are delighted to say the ETSI Group Specification GSQKD016 Protection Profile Standard has been published and validated. This constitutes a major milestone on the path to the certification of QKD products.
The work is specifying QKD system interfaces, implementation security requirements and optical characterization of QKD systems and their components. We are contributing towards making QKD a robust deployable solution to protect next-generation telecommunications.
The present document is applicable to a pair of QKD modules operating a prepare and measure QKD protocol that can form a complete QKD system when connected by an appropriate point-to-point QKD link.
The purpose of the QKD system is to establish QKD keys where a pair of QKD modules, one being a QKD transmitter and one a QKD receiver, are connected together and mutually share authentication credentials (see Figure 3).
A Protection Profile for QKD systems will be deloped which describes complete systems involving point-to-point devices from the physical implementation up to the output of final secret keys. The PP will give the high-level requirements, while technical details will be delegated to documents that either exist or need to be written.
